How Best To Wash Your Conservatory Windows

With the onslaught of wet weather, many of us will consider how best to wash our windows.

Here at Dual Glaze Services Ltd, Billericay’s leading windows and conservatories specialist, we are often asked for advice on the best window cleaning care. Our first advice would be to call in an expert if you are attempting to tackle high windows or those on the roof of your conservatory.

Windows look best if they are cleaned on a regular basis, at least twice a year on the inside and outside.

Here are some useful techniques for cleaning windows:

1) It’s best if you wash your windows on a cloudy day, because direct sunlight dries cleaning solutions before you can polish the glass properly.

2) Wash windows from the top down to prevent drips.

3) Use a soft toothbrush or cotton swab to clean corners.

4) To give an extra shine to window glass, polish it with well-washed cotton T-shirts or old cloth.

5) Polish windows to a sparkling shine with crumpled newspaper. The paper also leaves a film that’s resistant to dirt.

6) Finally remember to wash away any window cleaner because it could harm the paint or varnish.

When it comes to cleaning your conservatory roof, things can become a bit tricky. Again, here at Dual Glaze we recommend you call in the experts if you don’t fancy the risk of climbing a step ladder. In general it is recommended to use a water-fed pole while standing on a step ladder to clean your conservatory roof. These can be found in larger homeware stores. If you can’t get hold of one of these a soft bristle long handled brush with do the trick, and you will be able to rinse off with a garden hose.
